Johansson has all the qualities to make her a Hollywood bombshell; husky voice, buxom figure, and full pouty lips. Instead, she has made both blockbuster as well as indie films showcasing her range of work. Scarlett Johansson was born in New York City on November 22, 1984.
The actor admits she grew up in a household with very little money but her mother's love of film rubbed off on her from an early age.
Her mom decided to take her to audition for films instead. This proved to be an excellent decision.
Still she continued to appear in films with small roles like Home Alone 3 and Mandy Moore's music video, "Candy."
Johansson who was 18 years old at the time convincingly played the role of a 25-year-old wife.
Her brother worked for President Obama's campaign. She has another brother, sister, and half-brother.
"I associate that name [ScarJo] with, like, pop stars. It sounds tacky. It's lazy and flippant. And there's something kind of violent about it. There's something insulting about it," she told Glamour magazine during an interview.
She dated Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds in 2007, marrying him a year later. The couple filed for divorce in late 2010.
They began dating in 2012, got engaged and welcomed their daughter, Rose Dorothy Dauriac, some time in 2014. The couple tied the knot on October 1, 2014. They divide their time between Paris and New York, diligently keeping their daughter away from the spotlight.
In a UK poll she was voted, "World's Most Natural Beauty," in 2011.
The 5"3 actor said being in the public eye does not mean she does not deserve privacy. "Just because you're an actor or make films or whatever doesn't mean you're not entitled to your own personal privacy. If that is sieged in some way, it feels unjust. It feels wrong," she said at the time.
She released her second album Break Up in collaboration with Pete Yorn, a year later.
This year she was the voice of the large python snake Kaa in the live action film, The Jungle Book. Her sultry voice seduced Mowgli right into her coils. She is also the first woman to ever play the role of the snake.

Hard to believe but she was rejected a lot when she auditioned for commercials.
In one of her early movies, a film critic forecasted that if Johnasson was able to get past the teen years unscathed she would become an important actor as an adult.
The film Lost in Translation was her break-out role starring opposite Bill Murray.
She is also a twin. Her brother Hunter is three minutes younger than her.
The media and her fans have nicknamed her ScarJo, even though she hates the nickname, calling it awful.
The stunning entertainer has been lucky in love, dating some of Hollywood's leading men like Josh Harnett, Jared Leto, and Sean Penn.
Johansson married Frenchman Romain Dauriac, owner of an advertising agency.
Glamour magazine conducted a poll of 5,000 people, crediting Johansson as having the, "World's Sexiest Body."
In 2011, Johansson's phone was hacked. The perpetrators released nude pics from her phone.
She released her first album in 2008 titled, "Anywhere I Lay My Head."
She has participated in other albums since but has mostly focused on her acting career in the last couple of years.
She has often been described as intimidated and a woman who is aware and confident of her sexual presence.
Her mom is also her manager. The business relationship has not affected the personal one.
